Additional Considerations

Similar to French Model

  • EDF is the closest match in spirit—since it created the French fleet approach—but it’s effectively being renationalized, making it less of a pure public investment.
  • CGN in China is perhaps the next closest modern example of a large-scale, (semi-)standardized build-out, though it’s subject to Chinese state ownership and a mix of reactor tech.
  • NuScale (SMR) is trying to bring a standardized, modular fleet concept to fruition, but it remains in the early rollout phase.

If your goal is to invest in something that resembles the French approach of standardized builds, the closest “pure-play” publicly tradable companies to watch might be CGN Power (in Hong Kong) or the SMR developer NuScale (NYSE: SMR). However, neither truly replicates EDF’s old “single design/fleet build” model in its entirety.
